When reporting an issue, it helps to include your device model and iOS version, and a short description of what happened.
What EpiNotes does
- Log seizures: record start and end times, seizure type, rescue medication, VNS magnet swipes, sleep state, and optional video clips.
- Live timer: start a timer during a seizure; it keeps running even if the app is closed and resumes where it left off.
- Reports: see frequency, duration trends, time-of-day patterns, seizure-free streaks, and more.
- Optional caregiver sync: keep the same log in sync with the caregivers you invite via iCloud, off by default. Everyone you share with needs EpiNotes installed.
Frequently asked questions
Where is my data stored? Is it private?
All your data is stored on your device. We never receive it, and there is no analytics or tracking. See our Privacy Policy for full detail, including how the optional iCloud Sync feature works.
How do I sync with another caregiver?
In Settings → Sync, turn on Sync and tap Invite caregiver to send an iCloud share invitation. Everyone you invite needs EpiNotes installed and signed in to iCloud, and the shared log is only visible inside the app. Sync is off until you enable it.
Will the timer keep running if I lock my phone or the app closes?
Yes. The timer is saved continuously, so it survives locking your phone or the app being closed, and resumes at the correct elapsed time when you reopen EpiNotes.
What can caregivers I invite do to the log?
Sharing gives everyone you invite full read-and-write access: they can add, edit, and delete entries just like you, and changes sync both ways. Only invite people you trust with the whole record. Because anyone on the share can change or remove an entry, it's worth exporting a backup from time to time (Settings → Export) so you always have your own copy. You can manage who has access, or stop sharing entirely, from the same invite screen.
How do I back up or move my data?
Use Settings → Export to save a backup file through your device's share sheet. You can re-import it later with Settings → Import. Importing is additive and won't overwrite existing entries.
Is EpiNotes a medical device? Does it give medical advice?
No. EpiNotes is a tracking and note-taking tool only. It does not diagnose, treat, or provide medical advice. Always follow your own healthcare team's guidance, and in an emergency contact your local emergency services. A full disclaimer is available in the app under Settings → Help & Legal → Medical disclaimer.
